Greensboro, N.C. – Guilford County Schools (GCS) is introducing School Discovery Month, a new way for families to explore the many types of schools the district has to offer.

Starting October 1, all GCS schools will provide daytime and evening opportunities for families to visit, including Tuesday Tours events during the day and a school discovery night. While there, families will learn more about the school's culture and what makes each one unique. Families are encouraged to visit both their attendance-zone schools and schools that offer specialized Choice programs.

"We are proud to offer families multiple options for their child's education, from neighborhood schools with a diverse range of classes, clubs and activities, to specialized programs that cater to specific talents or themes," said Dr. Kimberly Robertson, executive director of Choice schools and programs. "Whether you are planning ahead for the next grade span, considering a change or are new to Guilford County Schools, we have a place for you."

Everyone is welcome to attend a School Discovery Month event, and no preregistration is required. Visitors are encouraged to check in at the school’s main office upon arrival.

School Discovery Month coincides with the district's Choice application window, which takes place from October 9 through December 4. These events replace the annual GCS Choice Showcase. To learn more about Choice schools and programs, visit www.gcsnc.com/choice.

Every GCS school offers the Guilford Guarantee, our promise that students can graduate with college credits up to an associate degree, an industry-recognized credential, or a meaningful workplace experience. Learn more about the Guilford Guarantee at www.gcsnc.com/guarantee.
